shlemiel crooks ~ book review **giveaway**

WHAT?!?  I get a cool book for the Beanie Babies AND get to participate in this awesome giveaway opp? I'm so excited!  Thank you SO much, Renee and Anna!  If you haven't met my friend Renee, you have to check her out.  She's the Mother behind Mother, Daughter & Son Book Reviews (however; when we first "met", it was just Mother-Daughter...isn't it cool to see people's families evolve?!?).  Well, Renee set me up with Anna Olswanger, who wrote Shlemiel Crooks.  It's about her family, which I thought was really cool.

This book is written for younger aged kiddos, like the two older Beanie Babies.  It is written like Anna is telling a story, which helped keep their attention.  I liked that it had some religion in it.  Not the typical Christian antidotes, but Jewish history.  That also helped hold the Beanie Babies attention, because they have not learned much about the Jewish religion.  At the end of the book, the Big One said she wanted to now study Jewish people.  I had to laugh, because she has always like the Christian religion, so maybe she will find something to do with religion later in life.

I digress.  Back to the book.  We read the book in one night, to be able to reach the deadline I had, but it would have been better to do it over two or three nights for their attention span.  I believe the age range is listed at 4-8, but I would recommend the higher end.  Ms. Middle got bored and didn't want to finish the book (her favorite parts was "the pictures, mom...duh").  When I asked the Big One what her favorite part was, she said, "learning about Jewish people".  You have to check this book out.  Stop by the book website HERE.

Here's a link to Renee's review on Shlemiel Crooks.  Her giveaways are over, but mine is just starting!  To enter, please see the Rafflecopter below!
